This year’s Toastmasters District 95 Conference will take place at the same venue where international sports clubs and the German national soccer team regularly meet for seminars, tactics training, workshops and selection matches. Here in Duisburg, at the Wedau Sports School, we have excellent conditions for holding a unique conference. In addition to the large, daylight-flooded main hall, where both the competitions and large parts of the main program will take place, we will offer workshops and other program items in additional, modern and optimally equipped seminar and multifunctional rooms. The grounds of the Wedau Sports School – Germany’s largest sports school – extend beyond the large building complex. The venue is embedded in the Duisburg Sports Park, which is home to many sports fields, a large water ski facility, the stadium of the famous MSV Duisburg soccer club and an internationally recognized regatta course. Duisburg is also ideally located in terms of transportation. The city is at the heart of the Ruhr metropolitan region, close to the other major German metropolitan regions of Düsseldorf and Cologne, in the middle of Germany’s most populous federal state – North Rhine-Westphalia – with around 18.1 million inhabitants. This makes it very easy to get here by plane (via Düsseldorf or Cologne) and public transport.
